My colllege advisor used to say that CNN expressed the views of the “right…to the far right.” This morning I’m doubting the veracity of that statement.

It is Super Bowl Sunday in America, one of the largest party days in certain parts of the country (nothing comes in ahead of St. Patrick’s Day in the Northeast). So what is the headline tale on CNN.com on this day showcasing the best in American sport?

A video about Barack Obama: the Musical opening up in Germany.

Oh, those silly, silly Germans. Is this payback for Springtime for Hitler: A Gay Romp With Eva and Adolf at Berchtesgaden?

Now I’d be willing to pay excellent money to see Sarah Palin sing “I’m a pitbull…..rah….’cause I’m a pitbull…woooh!,” but come on! I’m starting to consider those lefty charges levied against CNN.

This tale leads me to question just one question, when is the show coming to America and how do I get tickets?

I guess that’s two questions.

As I wrote this post I made a quick search of my blog to see what I’d written about the Super Bowl on Saipan. Nothing! How did I manage that?

Super Bowl XLIV kicks off at 6:25 PM Eastern Standard Time later today. On Saipan it will be 9:25 AM Chamorro Standard Time on Monday. Super Bowl very inconveniently takes place during office hours. So what is a football fan to do? Close down the government, that’s what. Better close down the schools, too.

People on Saipan will wake up, flip on the TV, and start drinking. Others will wake up, comb their hair, drive to the bar, and start drinking. Grand Hotel and World Resort are opening up their bars at 7 AM.

And the bars will be packed.

And anyone who decides to go for an afternoon drive or stroll on Monday is taking their hands into their own lives, or to be more precise, the hands of the drunks who will be driving home in the middle of the afternoon after the game ends.

Hotel occupancy at 49 pct. in November (Saipan Tribune)

The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands reported a 49 percent occupancy rate among its 13 member hotels for November 2009, a 13-percent drop compared to November 2008.
