One Week in Washington, DC
Agnes McPhetres and I just spent four days knocking on doors in Washington, DC telling our story and sharing our concerns about the Marianas Trench Marine National Monument. Our goal is to ensure that the United States Government keeps its promises to the people of the Northern Mariana Islands and places a monument headquarters and visitors center in the CNMI. Here are some photos of people we met along the way: Agnes and I met with Representative Sablan and his staff several times last week.
Backyard Birding
There are a half dozen camphor trees in my Mom’s backyard and there are scores of American Robins going to town on the berries this time of year. In case you were wondering, finding the red belly of a robin in a sea of tiny green leaves is very difficult when you are colorblind

I was going to call this post Freezing My Mass Off , but decided to go with the title you see because this is my blog and I’ll do whatever I want with it, thank you very much. I am back down in not-so-sunny Florida after having spent the weekend in Massachusetts for a reunion, of sorts
Reunion, of sorts
The flight to Boston was uneventful. We checked in online, printed our boarding passes from home, and then Jim took us to the airport after he took the kids to school. I got bumped up to First Class and Mom takes every opportunity to tell anyone who will listen that I wouldn’t trade seats with her
Goodbye, Saipan
My last few days on Saipan were a whirlwind of activity. I sold off some of my belongings, gave away even more, and boxed up and mailed myself three packages of mostly clothes

Holiday windfall
THE local tourism industry enjoyed an extra holiday windfall yesterday with over a thousand visitors ferried by M.S. Asuka II to Guam for a daylong trip.
