CNMI Election Results: Heinz and Arnold Top Vote Getters!
November 7, 2009 A very close governor’s race resulted in no candidate getting over 50% of the vote so a run-off will be scheduled between the top two teams: Republican candidates Heinz Hofschneider and Arnold Palacios who earned the top votes with 4,900 votes, and the incumbent Covenant party candidates of Benigno Fitial and Eloy Inos who came in second with 4,892 votes. Juan Pan Guerrero and Joseph Camacho came in third with 2,643 votes and Ramon Deleon Guerrero and David Borja coming in last with 1,101 votes.
Final Election Poll Results
With just 10 days left until Election Day, the final results of my Mayor and Governor polls are in. Last week’s poll will be the last poll because I have more important things to do in these final 10 days than play with my blog.
550 entered in XTERRA World Championship triathlon (AP via Yahoo! Sports)
Two-time defending women’s champ Julie Dibens of England and defending men’s champion Ruben Ruzafa of Spain are among the triathletes entered in Sunday’s 28.5-mile XTERRA World Championship on Maui. The field of 550 triathletes, ranging in age from 12 to 72 and hailing from 36 states and 23 countries, will begin the race with a 1-mile swim in the Pacific Ocean.
UOG facing lawsuit
THE University of Guam, which identifies itself as an equal opportunity employer and provider, is facing a discrimi nation lawsuit filed by a university officer who alleged she was turned down for a job because of her race and gender.
Hawley sets record in pre-Hell of Marianas race (Saipan Tribune)
Nate Hawley missed the 2008 pre-Hell of Marianas race, but completed this year’s 50-kilometer contest in record-breaking fashion. Hawley completed the race that started and ended at Pacific Islands Club in one hour, 39 minutes, and 18.53 seconds, shattering the 1:44:47 Jazy Garcia recorded in 2008.

20 Days Until Election Day!
There is a poll on the main page of the Marianas Variety website that asks the question, “Who should be the next Saipan mayor?” This snapshot of the results was taken Sunday morning at about 9 AM. I appear to be leading. Don’t be misled however, these online polls are easy to cheat.
